Formulated with key clinically validated ingredients – including K2Vital® Vitamin K2 (as MK-7), Enovita® Grape Seed Extract, CoQ10 and Folate – HEART DEFEND-HER helps maintain healthy blood pressure and arterial health while supporting overall heart and cardiovascular health by helping:
o Enovita® Grape Seed Extract – made specifically with grape seed from white wine product – that’s standardized to provide ≥ 95% proanthocyanidins (including ≥ 85% oligomeric proanthocyanidins, OPCs) and has been shown to support cardiovascular health and healthy blood pressure while also helping improve mood and reducing perceived stress. For what it’s worth, grape seed polyphenols have a higher antioxidant activity than well-known antioxidants, such as vitamins C, E and A.
o K2Vital® Vitamin K2 (as MK-7) – A pure, stable, fully bioactive and readily absorbed form of Vitamin K2, a vital vitamin (which few people consume enough of, even with a varied diet) that’s needed by our bodies to support bone and heart health. It controls the transport and distribution of calcium, making sure it gets to wherever it’s needed (e.g., building and maintaining healthy bones) while preventing calcium deposits in places it’s not wanted (e.g., arteries).
o CoQ10 – Few ingredients have garnered as much attention in the arena of heart health as CoQ10, a nutrient found in high concentrations in the mitochondria of the heart (not to mention other areas of the body), where it provides an important function in the generation of cellular energy (i.e., ATP). CoQ10 also acts as an antioxidant, helping combat excessive oxidative stress and supporting a healthy inflammatory response. In general, levels of CoQ10 decline with aging, with the body’s production decreasing after the age of 20, such that levels are reduced to about half by the age of 80.
o Folate – HEART DEFEND-HER is a good source of the B vitamin folate, which is essential for proper homocysteine metabolism (i.e., breakdown, recycling); in fact, folate is the most important dietary determinant of homocysteine, which, when in excess (e.g., low folate intake), has been shown to contribute to heart concerns.
o Vitamin D – Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 are the perfect pair when it comes to supporting heart and bone health. For example, while Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption and retention, Vitamin K2 completes Vitamin D’s action, making sure it gets to wherever it’s needed. With that in mind, it’s little surprise that research has shown that the combination works better together than either alone.
o Vitamin E – A fat-soluble vitamin and an antioxidant that helps prevent the oxidation (i.e., rancidity) of fats in the body. While more evidence is needed, there is evidence that alpha-tocopherol intake may be related to better heart health.
o BioPerine - a clinically tested black pepper extract – known as the “King of Spices” – that has been shown to enhance the absorption of a range of nutrients – including CoQ10 – to help ensure more of the valuable nutrition gets delivered where you need it most.
